The Wormwood (Cucullia absinthii) is a species of moth in the Noctuidae family.

Description[]

This medium sized moth is similar to the Shark, but is smaller. Mostly grey, this species is shaded ashy black, with a series of black dots and black crosslines. Like manny of this family, this species has a "fin" on the thorax.

Habitat & Range[]

Classed as a Nationally Scarce B species in Britain, this species is found in cliffs, docks, quarries, and other areas where the foodplant is found. This species is found in south west England, Suffolk and Wales in Britain.

Larvae[]

The larvae feed on Wormwood and Mugwort.
