The Tawny Pinion (Lithophane semibrunnea) is a species of moth in the Noctuidae family.

Description[]

This medium-sized moth is a tawny brown, with a crest on the thorax, which is a much darker brown. The hindwing is paler. Most similar is the Pale Pinion, which is lighter and lacks the dark colouring to the crest.

Range[]

This species is local in Britain, and where it is found, it is not common. It is found in woodlands, and appears to be spreading.

The larvae feed on Ash.
