This species is classed as Nationally Scarce B in Britain, and inhabits hedgerows and scrubs in Britain in Spring. This species is a reddish-brown colour, and has white crosslines and a white mark on the forewing. As with many members of Lasiocampidae, the female is larger.

This species was once common in Britain, but has declined drastically, mainly due to the removal of it's habitat.
