Oligia versicolor ~ Rufous Minor

Rufous Minor

he Rufous Minor (Oligia versicolor) is a species of moth in the Noctuidae family. One of the three similar minors, the Rufous Minor can only be confidently identified from the Marbled Minor (O. strigilis) and Tawny Marbled Minor (O. latruncula) by dissection of the genitilia. Though this rule applies, it is possible to identify the Rufous Minor from the other two as it will have a crimson flush and a reddish tuft in the thorax. This species is local in Britain and flies in June and July in woodlands and grasslands. As it's name suggests, this species is small, and often smaller than some micro moth species.
