Small Stream

Rivers cover less than 3% of the planets surface but contain over half of the world's freshwater. Rivers are the perfect habitat for fish, aquatic invertebrates and amphibians. Due to the vast number of species that live in them they are often visited by birds looking for food. S

Some mammals also live along rivers such as the Bank Vole. The flowing action of the water keeps it well oxygenated. This enables the river to support the vast amount of wildlife which it does. Nutrients are also washed down river from the source.
