he Greater Bee Fly (Bombylius major) is a species of fly found in Britain. This common species is often mistaken for a bumblebee, hence it's name. Despite it's similar looks, the Bee flies are completly harmless. This species flies in Spring. They have a long probuscus which is used only for getting nectar from large flowers.
