The Frosted Orange (Gortyna flavago) is a species of moth in the Noctuidae family.

Description[]

A distinctive moth, with only one species it could be confused with in Britain. This species is a bright orange, with a darker bar near the edge of the wing. The oval and kidney mark are distinctive, and usually brighter than the rest of the forewing. There are several black veins.

Similar Species[]

The only similar species is the Fisher's Estuarine Moth, which is much larger.

Larvae[]

The larvae feed on a range of plants, including Common Foxglove.

Range & Habitat[]

While widesprad throughout Britain, this species is found in woodlands, grasslands, and occasionally gardens.
