Common Limpet - WWC Archives

The Common Limpet (Patella Vulgata), grinds it's shells onto rock surfaces on which it will cling to to prevent drying out when the tide is out.

They can live up to 15 years and grow up to 6cm in diameter and 3cm high. It is an edible species of sea snail with gills, a typical true limpet, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Patellidae. It is endemic to the waters off western Europe.
