The Case-bearing Clothes Moth (Tinea pellionella) is a species of moth in the Tineidae.

Description[]

This small moth is rather plain. It is brown with a orange head, often with black dots on the forewing.

Range & Habitat[]

Common to pest status in most of Britain. This species is frequent in buildings including houses, and is usually treated as a pest, with extreme methods to kill them. Also found outdoors in bird's nests.

Larvae[]

The larvae feed in a small case consisting of paper or wool, which gives the species it's name. One of few moth larvae which feed on clothing and carpets, feeding on wool.
