The Buttoned Snout (Hypena rostralis) is a species of moth in the Noctuidae family.

This species is classed as Nationally Scarce B in Britain, and found in woodlands in the south of Britain. This species has more narrow wings that other species of snouts, and can vary from greys to browns, and the central markings are much like a button hole, hence the name, but is often reduced. Like other members of the Hypeninae subfamily this species has a snout-like head.
