The Blue-cheecked Bee-eater (Merops persicus) is a species of bird in the Meriopidae family, and is a vagrant to Britain

Description[]

This colourful bird is mostly green, though as it's name suggests, it does have blue cheeks. The neck is red (rusty-red in juvs), and there is a black eye-band. The tail has a projection, which is longer in the male.

5-6 eggs. Often nests in colonies with Bee-eaters. Eggs very similar.
