The American Painted Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) is a species of butterfly in the Nymphalidae family.

Very similar to the Painted Lady, this species originates from America, and is a rare vagrant to south England, Wales and Ireland. This species differs from the Painted Lady for a few reasons. One is that the American Painted Lady has a small white dot on the forewing on both sides (Upper and underside), which the Painted Lady lacks. On the underside of the hindwing, this species has two large "eyes" rather than the four which the Painted Lady has.
