The Ambrosi's Cave Salamander, French Cave Salamander, or Spezia Cave Salamander (Speleomantes ambrosii) is a species of salamanderin the Plethodontidae family. It is endemic to Italy.

Its natural habitats are temperate forests, rocky areas, caves, and subterranean habitats (other than caves). It is threatened by habitat loss.

It has been introduced into caves in the south. No one knows if they've managed to breed but it's quite possible that without being disturbed in those remote areas that they may have prooved successful...
